Keep on the funny side

A Bit Off therapy is called “Laughter for Life” because there’s lifelong value in looking for the humor in everyday circumstances. While most clients may need only a few sessions to re-orient themselves, many continue indefinitely because they love the experience of engaging in unbridled laughter once or twice a week.

 Laughter as a ‘first priority’

“There is no doubt about it, laughter is my first priority. It keeps me young.” - Carl Reiner at age 97

According to the Mayo Clinic, anything from a full belly laugh to a giggle does you good. Of course having a sense of humor isn’t a cure-all, but there’s plenty of evidence for the many benefits of laughter.

Laughter helps now & later

In the short-term laughter can:

1) Increase endorphins by boosting the intake of air
2) Relieve stress by decreasing heart rate and blood pressure
3) Soothe tension by improving circulation

In the long run laughter may:

1) Improve the immune system by releasing neuropeptides
2) Increase personal satisfaction by improving self-esteem
3) Reduce ongoing stress, depression, and anxiety

Counseling spaces feature Looney Tunes posters and a giant image of “Luna,” who tends to hang out everywhere.

A bit much?

Four different business cards may seem like overdoing it, but giving clients their choice—or letting them take the whole set—is a fun way to kick things off.
